Secondary Maths CPD Network led by NW Maths Hub 3

Please see below details of the final session of the Secondary Maths CPD Network led by NW Maths Hub 3.

This session will take place on: Monday 3rd July 2017, 4-6pm at Rainford High, St Helens.

The focus for this session is:

Primary Maths Mastery

KS2 Raised Expectations- National Curriculum/POS

Transitional support and guidance

Preparing for Y7

Target audience: Secondary Maths HOD, KS3 practitioners and transition coordinators

Tara Loughran will deliver this session – Tara has extensive experience in schools for leading improvement and change in mathematics. She has provided high quality training for the St Helens TSA since becoming at teaching school in 2013; she has inspired lots of teachers and support staff to take her ideas back to the classroom with significant impact. Tara represents NW Maths Hub 3 across the North West.

Active Maths FREE workshop

Maths of the Day ‘Active Maths’

Using Physical Activity to raise attitudes and attainment in mathematics

Course description:

The course looks at the research, rationale and benefits of ‘active learning’ and gives teachers practical ideas on how to implement ‘Active Maths’ in to the curriculum.

Delegates will be introduced to the highly acclaimed and praised resource ‘Maths of the Day’ – a website that provides teachers and teaching assistants with over 1000 lesson plans on how to deliver ‘active maths’.

The resource is used in schools across the UK and internationally and is having a huge impact on attitudes to maths, attainment in maths, levels of physical activity and whole child development.

Who is the course for?

  • Maths leaders/PE leaders/HT’s/SLT
  • Any class teacher concerned/interested in raising standards in maths / increasing levels of physical activity

* Please note: This course is not appropriate for PE coaches/outside agencies working within schools
