New to GCSE Network Meetings

As a result of discussions with schools and colleges about the support they would like for the delivery GCSE Maths Resit we have decided to put on termly meetings for teachers that are new to teaching GCSE Maths. This may be that a teacher has previously taught Functional skills or their subject specialism is not maths. We will cover in detail what the student must know, common errors, lesson ideas and how to make lessons ‘different’ for those that are resitting. We will cover some of the topics that are new to foundation and look at new ideas for delivering Resit Programmes.

The first of these meetings will be held at the University of Liverpool, on 29th November 2017, 4pm-6pm, with light refreshments available from 3.30pm.

Please see attached flyer for further details.

To book places at one or more of these meeting, please complete the online booking form below (that is also linked to in the attached flyer):
Dear colleagues,

After the success of the meetings over the last couple of years we will be continuing to offer our Higher-Tier GCSE Network meetings in this area. These are a series of meetings to facilitate a discussion and exchange of ideas and strategies in support of the teaching of GCSE mathematics. They will cover some of the new topics and look at new ideas for other areas.

The first of these meetings will be held at the University of Liverpool, on 29th November 2017, 4pm-6pm, with light refreshments available from 3.30pm.

Subsequent meetings will be held at the same time on 28th February 2018 and 27th June 2018.

If you cannot make the full meeting but would like to attend part of it, this will be fine – please let the presenter Sue Harkness know: sueharkness@furthermaths.org.uk<https://outlook.manchester.ac.uk/owa/UrlBlockedError.aspx>

Each meeting will cover specific topics, listed below, in two groups running concurrently. One teacher cannot cover both groups so we encourage schools to send at least two teachers to each meeting.

To book places at one or more of these meeting, please complete the online booking form below (that is also linked to in the  attached flyer ):
